If you aren’t excited for Disney’s Pandora, you should be.

April 25, 2017

We’re a little over a month away to the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and with every minute I’m getting more & more excited. Even if you aren’t an Avatar film buff, you will LOVE this fully immersive land that the Disney Imagineers have created. Why? Let me tell you….

It’s new & exciting!

First of all, and probably the most obvious – IT’S NEW! And it’s unlike anything they’ve done before. This land is something new, something exciting and something truly magical. Fan of the film or not, this is a new and unexplored part of Walt Disney World Resort. No one has stepped foot on it’s bran new, intricate pathways. Stared up at the massive floating mountains of the Valley of Mo’ara. There’s so many unseen and stunning details just waiting to be found. If you’re little ones are Wilderness Explorers, there are also brand new stops & badges to earn through Pandora. And did I mention, it’s new?! It’s BRAND NEW and just waiting to be explored.

It’s stunning!

Did I mention that it’s absolutely STUNNING? Because it is. Whether you are there during the day, or walking down the glowing paths at night, you won’t be disappointed. Pandora is a dense, luscious jungle filled with brightly colored unique flora and fauna, towering, floating mountains rising high above the mist. The Valley of Mo’ara is filled with Na’vi totems and cultural items, a Na’vi drum circle so you can experience the music of the Na’vi people, and even instruments that you can play yourself. Not mention that it is a bio-luminescent world that awakens with nightfall. Remember what I said about glowing? Yup. It literally glows at nighttime. It’s a magical tropical jungle! The sights & sounds of Pandora, are truly amazing. The area is stunning, and only the imagination of James Cameron and the Disney Imagineers could bring it to life like this.

 The Attractions in Pandora…

Another awesome thing about Pandora is the rides they have incorporated into the new land. Remember how I said it was truly an immersive land? It is! You can ride on the back of a banshee through the Valley of Mo’ara on this 3D ride. It’s a thrilling and truly breathtaking adventure! It will enlighten every sense, as you feel the banshee between your legs, the water on your face as you splash through puddles, hear the animals, and enjoy the smell of flowers and fauna in the jungle. This is something you really don’t want to miss!

If you’re looking for a more laid back, and relaxing ride experience, be sure to miss the Na’vi River Journey. This is more of a slow moving ride, that is good for all ages. You’ll enjoy a brilliant, musical journey as you float through and search for the Na’vi Shaman. You’ll coast through a series caves, encounter the exotic glowing plants & flowers, and meet interesting characters along your journey down stream. You’ll also come face to face with the Shaman, who will demonstrate her connection to the life force of Pandora. She’ll even enlighten you with her music. Another experience that you certainly won’t want to miss.

The food…

And then of course, there’s the food. OMG, the food. Disney has really gone out of their way with the theme  of  their food for Pandora, and it’s certainly out of this world! Pandora offers two very unique eateries for guests to enjoy.

The first, is the Satu’li Canteen which offers “wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and hearty proteins.” It’s a quick, casual  establishment filled with international cuisine, vegetarian inspired options, and of course a delicious libation or two. This little eatery is perfect for the whole family. Another perk to this quick service location? You can use Disney’s new pre-order option with My Disney Experience. This is genius! No more waiting in line with cranky, hungry kids (yep, I’ve been there too!)…you order, and its waiting for you when you show up!

Looking to quench your thirst? Pongu Pongu offers Na’vi inspired specialty libations and ales. It means “Party Party” in the language of Na’vi, and it’s sure to delight every thirsty guest. The quick stop offers a “bioluminescent” frozen cocktail, indigenous beers—or even a sweet snack you won’t find elsewhere. This walk-up window will definitely be offering some amazing concoctions, along with a jungle/island theme sure to delight.  Definitely worth a stop for the curious drinker in your family.

You need to get excited about all that Pandora – The Land of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has to offer! This is going to be a fully immersive experience and offer a very unique point of view. Between the rides, the “tech”, the amazing food & drink offerings coming, and just absolute stunning beauty…kids of ALL AGES will enjoy Pandora. So what are you waiting for? Get out there & explore Disney’s newest land!

And while you’re at it, tell me what you’re most excited for – food? attractions? ALL OF IT?
